Christmas soap making
December 17, 2010
A friend and I decided to do some Christmas soap making a few days ago. It’s been almost a year since I did my Plush Folly soap making course, so it was about time I made some! With only 10 days until Christmas we decided to make hot process soap, otherwise there would be a few empty Christmas stockings :) Here are some photos from our soap making session:
And here is my peppermint oat soap cut into rustic cubes!
Hot and cold process soap making kits are available from Plush Folly. But remember, you will need to buy your caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) separately because it can’t be sent in the post! It’s available in most hardware shops and Homebase sell a 500g bottle for £2.49.

Interesting, but is there a viable alternative to caustic soda? I don’t fancy the idea of getting a “free” chemical peel at the same time as I wash my face :-)

The sodium hydroxide is cooked away, so the soap won’t be caustic once it’s finished – no need to worry about a chemical peel ;-)
