Rosehip oil for a good cause
November 3, 2009
I’m a big fan of Trilogy’s Organic Rosehip Oil, which scored 5/5 in anderra product reviews earlier in the year (read the review)
Well, now there is another good reason to buy it! Trilogy have created a limited edition run for a campaign to support endangered orangutans in South East Asia. The campaign will run throughout New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom and $1.00 from the sale of each box of the limited edition oil will be donated to the Borneo Orangutan Foundation.

“We share 97% of our DNA with orangutans but they are rapidly heading towards extinction due to habitat destruction. Increased demand for Palm Oil and paper products has led to deforestation of rainforests in South East Asia. The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation rescues and rehabilitates orangutans from high-risk areas and releases them into wild, protected rainforest habitats. Our support will go to the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Reintroduction Project. There are about 640 orangutans currently being rehabilitated at Nyaru Menteng”.
The Nyaru Menteng project rescues orangutans forced from their habitat or held in captivity as illegal pets. Through quaratine and half-way housing they are released back into their natural environment. The aim is also to protect large areas of untouched forest for this purpose so that orangutans are free to roam on these islands and learn important forest survival skills without external threats to their habitat or themselves.
The project has forestry area perfect for small orangutans as it’s undisturbed by visitors. The larger orangutans live on half-way islands in the Rungan river which remains undisturbed.
