Badger Foot Balm

June 3, 2008

An extra virgin olive oil based foot balm ideal for soothing and healing tired, dry, sore or hard working feet.

I picked up a pot of Badger foot balm and my local Boots store and thought I’d try it out as I love Badger’s Chai Rose Lip Balm.

The foot balm is oil based rather than a cream which I feel makes it better used as an overnight treatment with socks or when you have time to put your feet up. When I’ve used it overnight, I have never woken up with oily feeling skin as it soaks in very well.

As with many of Badger’s products, the smell was very herbal and pure. It contains ecalyptus, peppermint and tea tree oil which made it very refreshing, especially if I’d been walking around all day.

Why do Badger use extra virgin olive oil instead of regular olive oil? The badger website states;“It is a “First cold-pressed” oil of olive that has been pressed while the olive fruit is still fresh, resulting in a low-acidity oil (this is what qualifies it as “extra virgin”) that is a lovely greenish color, fragrant, flavorful and nutritious, and when applied topically, very soothing and healing for your skin.”

Overall Badger Foot Balm isn’t the most moisturising foot treatment I have used. I think it’s a great product for general foot care, but if you have very dry feet, you may want something a bit more intensive. It is a great product for foot rubs as it contains lots of oils which get slippery when they absorb heat from the skin.

I found it a bit difficult to get the balm out at first as it is quite solid, but once I’d made a few dents, it was much easier. The warmer the balm, the easier it is to get it out of the tin.

Badger foot balm is packaged in a beautifully illustrated small round tin that can be reused after the product is finished.

  • Pros: Very refreshing
  • Cons: Not as moisturising as I’d hoped it would be
