Aloe Vera Cleanser

I was surprised not to to find a creamy cleanser in a dry skin kit. DeVita’s Aloe Vera Cleanser is a very smooth clear gel. You use this cleanser on damp skin/lathered in hands and it foams up gently to lift dirt and oils off your skin. I really liked this cleanser because it’s not as stripping as a foaming face wash, and it felt like it gave my face a thorough clean. The Moroccan rose toner compliments the cleanser perfectly.

Aloe Vera Scrub

I found the jojoba beads (jojoba esters) in this scrub a little too abrasive for my skin. The instructions said to mix it with a little cleanser if you have very sensitive skin – which worked very well. I just made sure I rubbed very very gently and it left my skin glowing and healthy looking afterwards.

Daily Solar Protective Moisturizer 30 & Evening Nutritional Moisturizer

I loved these moisturisers. They were not as thick as I was expecting them to be (especially as they were in a dry skin kit) – but I was suprised because they were very moisturising, and without the gloopiness of many products formulated for dry skin. My skin soaked them up very quickly and after a few minutes, there was no trace of moisturiser left. My favourite of the two is the evening nutritional moisturiser, my skin just drank it up! It’s so light I’ve been using it in the morning as well as the evening on days where my skin is very dry.

Cocoa mask

This product smells good enough to eat, it’s like a pot of chocolate mousse. It would be a fantastic gift for a chocoholic! The instructions say that you may get a tingling sensation when using the mask as blood is drawn up to the surface of the skin. It’s not an unpleasant sensation at all, it’s a similar feeling to having peppermint oil on your skin – air feels cooler against your skin. It felt quite thick when I took it out of the pot, but it sort of melts into your skin when you apply it. Afterwards, my face didn’t smell sickly like you’d expect with a chocolate flavoured product, it just felt pert (a bit like your body does after exercise) and fresh.

Vitamin C serum

I really like the idea of this serum but I found it a bit too strong for my skin. The instructions say that it may tingle a little during the first few uses. It made my skin feel a little tight and uncomfortable – as a result I have only used it a few times. I gave the sample to someone who has less sensitive skin and they said it left their skin feeling lovely and soft.

Moroccan Rose Toner

I am a huge fan of anything rose, and was not disappointed by this toner. It was light, fresh and non-astringent (alcohol free so I didn’t feel any soreness afterwards). The smell was very delicate and perfectly balanced.

I’ve been using this kit for nearly two weeks and my skin is starting to look alot fresher. The try me sized samples in the kit are very generous (compared to most sample sizes) and will last me a couple more weeks yet. The best products for me were the evening nutritional moisturiser, the rose toner and the cocoa mask.
