Neal’s Yard Lavender and Myrrh mouthwash

November 15, 2010

Neals Yard’s lavender and myrrh mouthwash is all natural and free from lurid colours and artificial flavours,

“An antiseptic, astringent, refreshing and healing mouthwash to stimulate, heal and cleanse the mouth and gums”.

This is one of my favourite natural oral care products. The mouthwash is packaged in a brown glass bottle and is concentrated rather than ready mixed. To use it you need to add water to dilute (unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a cap to mix the mouthwash in), which is great because you can make it as strong or as weak as you like. It is also very economical, my bottle lasted me several months.

I originally bought this mouthwash because my gums were a little red at the time. It helped to a degree but didn’t heal them completely. Even so, it left my mouth feeling soothed and fresh rather than stripped so I’ve continued using it daily for general oral hygiene. I hadn’t used mouthwash in a very long time because most are so strong they give me mouth ulcers, and I’d not found one that didn’t give me ulcers until I tried this product.

My partner had been using it too and said that he slept better when he’d used the mouthwash.

Overall, a very good alternative to normal mouthwash, particularly if you are prone to mouth ulcers. Definitely one I will be buying again!

If you want to make this product yourself, you can find the recipe in the Neal’s Yard Recipes for Natural Beauty book.
