November 14, 2008

A refreshing, super minty all natural aloe vera toothpaste. Free from fluoride and sodium lauryl sulphate.

  • 100% natural origin
  • Not Suitable for Vegetarians due to inclusion of marine source ingredient (chitosan)
  • Contains no Fluoride
  • Contains no SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate)
How does it work?
  • Co-Q10 – helps maintain healthy teeth & gums
  • Aloe Vera – naturally soothing gel
  • Tea Tree Oil – a natural antiseptic
  • Chitosan – to attack bacteria
  • Silica – the natural whitener
  • Escin – for healthy gums
  • Peppermint – natural flavour
  • Menthol – natural flavour

Although Aloe Dent’s aloe vera toothpaste looks like something from the set of Ghostbusters, don’t let it put you off! It’s tasty and pleasant to use.

The front of the box said toothpaste, but it’s more of a gel – very green and very minty. Although very green, the colour is from all natural ingredients – chlorophyll and aloe vera gel. It contains both menthol and peppermint which makes the taste quite strong – which may be too strong for very sensitive mouthes (they do a sensitive toothpaste in this range too).

Even though this product contains no sodium lauryl sulphate, it still produces a good amount of foam – not so much that it filled my whole mouth and not too little that it became impossible to keep the paste in my mouth.

Other members of the family have tried this toothpaste and now we all use it…it has been the only natural toothpaste all of us have ‘converted’ to.

Family feedback:

“I liked everything about this one – tasted nice and didn’t have a gritty feeling”.

“So much more refreshing than Colgate!”

“Sometimes it’s so minty, it makes your eyes water – especially if you brush twice”.

When the first tube of this I bought ran out, I had to go back to using my regular toothpaste until I could go and buy some more. Compared to aloe dent’s smooth refreshing gel, the texture felt really thick, sticky and pastey.

Aloe Dent also have other aloe vera toothpastes in the range: whitening, sensitive, children’s strawberry toothpaste, women’s toothpaste (apparently for mood support and general well-being, combined with Black Cohosh, Sage and Dong Quai) herbal night time and wake up toothpaste.

  • Pros: Tastes delicious, very pleasant to use
  • Cons: Could be a bit strong for sensitive mouths
