Weleda Citrus Deodorant

June 3, 2008

A tangy, aluminium free deodorant from Weleda that doesn’t inhibit bodily function.

The first thing to note about this deodorant is that it will not stop you from sweating because I doesn’t contain any aluminium salts – natural antiperspirants don’t exist.

The product is packaged in a glass spray pump dispenser. I bought the travel size version so it was easier and lighter to carry around in my bag.

Weleda Citrus deodorant is a mixture of alcohol and essential oils and despite the fact it’s a liquid, dried very quickly leaving no stickiness. It has a delicious citrus scent which felt very cooling when I sprayed it onto my skin making it ideal as a body spritz in the Summer or to freshen up after playing sports. Perfumes contains lots of synthetic chemicals and I think this (and other scents) could be used as a natural alternative to perfume as well as a deodorant. This product also gets another bonus point for not leaving an white or yellow marks on my clothes – which I am assuming must be aluminium particles.

Weleda’s citrus deodorant is great as an everyday product if you aren’t too physically active. On days where I did a fair amount of physical activity, I found I needed to reapply it quite frequently to stay ‘whiff free’. I think it also depends on how much you sweat as to how often you need to reapply it. There are times when I want to stay absolutely dry so I use my regular deodorant for those occasions and Weleda Citrus deodorant for the rest of the time.

I’ve got use to shaving my underarms and then applying my deodorant straight afterwards but don’t do that with this one because it will make your eyes water!

Summary

  • Pros: Reasonably priced, free from aluminium and other chemicals
  • Cons: Doesn’t prevent ‘whiff’ if you are doing lots of exercise
