Weleda Foot Balm

November 26, 2009

A light and zingy foot balm to revive and soothe tired feet.

“Soothing plant extracts and refreshing essential oils of lavender, rosemary, sweet orange and litsea cubeba in a non-greasy cream help keep feet comfortably dry. Calendula is included for its natural antiseptic properties, myrrh extract contributes astringent action whilst hectorite helps whisk away perspiration so feet stay feeling dry.”

  • Contains biodynamically grown organic Calendula
  • 100% natural
  • BDIH certified
  • Free from synthetic ingredients and artificial additivesw
  • Fragranced with essential oils
  • Suitable for vegetarians

The first thing I noticed about this balm was that it had a completely different texture to most products formulated for dry feet. The balm came out of the tube looking quite thick and stiff, but as soon as it touched my skin it melted into a light, velvety layer. It absorbed so quickly I could put my socks on straight after application without feeling like I was sliding around in my shoes for hours – definitely a bonus because it mean’t my feet absorbed more than my socks!

It’s a great product if you are on your feet alot and as a result get dry or irritated skin. It leaves a super fine layer of refreshing balm (heaven after a long walk) which reduces the amount of wear and tear on your feet. I’ve started putting a blob of this on my hands every now and then because it’s just as effective as hand creams and I can touch things straight away without leaving hand cream on everything.

This product also smells wonderful – very similar smell to Skin Food, but the texture is completely different. It’s lemony and fresh making it perfect for use by men or women.

Green Beauty Bible Awards badge

Weleda Foot Balm is one of 6 Weleda products to win the Green Beauty Bible Awards this year.

For those of you not familiar with the Green Beauty Bible, it’s written by editorial duo Josephine Fairley and Sarah Stacey. Each year they run the ‘Tried & Tested Scheme’ with a team of over 7500 women to seek out the best natural and organic beauty products on the market. Other Weleda products that also won Green Beauty Bible awards this year include Skin Food and Wild Rose Night Cream.

I think I’ve finally found a foot balm I’ll be sticking with! It has all the nourishing properties of an intensive foot balm but without the heavy duty consistency.
