Weleda Iris Cleansing Lotion
June 3, 2008
A fragrant and milky cleansing lotion made from Iris plants grown biodynamically in Tuscany
The texture of Weleda’s Iris Cleanser is more milky than creamy. It’s light, non greasy and left my face feeling clean and soft. I like this cleanser because it removes dirt from my face without leaving it feeling stripped and dry.
Although the product is labelled as iris cleanser, it also fragranced with other essential oils including grapefruit, geranium, lavender and bergamot which I think is what gives it quite a strong smell. So for those with sensitive skin easily irritated by fragrance (no synthetic fragrance in this product), it might be a good idea to do a patch test first. I’ve found the scent is too strong to use around the eye area or to remove eye makeup.
I have used this product in 2 ways:
- Gentle cleanse with a cotton wool pad
- As a cleansing facial wash with a flannel when I have been using products like suncream on my face.
The only complaint I have about the bottle is that the opening is quite large, so the cleanser tends to whizz out a bit quickly.
- Pros: Gentle cleanser, removes dirt effectively
- Cons: The scent is a little strong to use around the eye area
